Awaken What’s Possible: Senator Kim Jackson

Meet Kim Jackson. Kim has always felt a call to serve people at the margins. Much of her life has been spent as a pastor and social activist working to improve the lives of people in her community. In January 2021, Kim Jackson became senator to Georgia’s 41st district in addition to serving as pastor of Church of the Common Ground—a church in Atlanta that exists to serve as a safe space for the unhoused. Watch Kim’s story and hear how she navigates her new reality as state senator while still serving as pastor to some of the poorest people in her community.

When I was about 8 years old I figured out I was called to ministry but I was a part of a church that didn't ordain women. And I believed that was the truth until I met a college chaplain that said to me 'you have gifts for ministry and I want to show you this is possible'.
